1. IVF / In Vitro Fertilization
This procedure involves the stimulation of the female ovaries to produce several eggs using fertility medications. This is then followed by the retrieval of the female eggs by a minor surgical procedure and the fertilization of these eggs with the male sperm in a laboratory.
The resulting fertilized eggs or embryos are then transferred to the female uterus or womb. A pregnancy test is done 10 to 14 days after the procedure to see if the embryo implanted successfully to the wall of the female uterus to result in a pregnancy.
This treatment is preferred for couples with unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, and blocked fallopian tubes in females.
2. IUI / Intrauterine Insemination
It is a less invasive type of fertility treatment that involves the direct placement of the male sperm into the female uterus to increase the likelihood of pregnancy.
The procedure may be recommended in cases of couples with infertility without any known cause or in cases where the male partner has erection, ejaculation, or sperm-related issues.
3. ICSI / Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
The ICSI procedure is an advanced form of IVF treatment that involves the injection of a single male sperm directly into a female egg in the laboratory to allow fertilization.
This procedure is beneficial in cases where the male partner has a low sperm count or poor motility of sperm. It is also recommended for couples with a history of IVF failures.
4. IMSI / Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection
It is an advanced form of the ICSI procedure and involves the selection of sperm under high magnification to ensure that only the best quality sperm are used for fertilization. This helps in improving the success rate of treatment.
5. Frozen Embryo Transfer
In this procedure, the embryos created from an IVF cycle are frozen (cryopreserved) for future use. The embryos can be thawed and transferred to the female uterus during subsequent IVF cycles.
This procedure eliminates the need for the female partner to undergo multiple ovarian stimulations using fertility medications.
This procedure is less invasive than a complete IVF cycle and offers flexibility to the couple.
6. IVF Using Egg Donor
This procedure involves the use of eggs donated by another female. The male partner’s sperm will be used to fertilize these eggs and the resultant embryos will be implanted into the recipient female’s uterus.
This type of treatment is suggested for women having non-viable eggs, that is, poor egg quality, elder women with a decrease in ovarian reserve, and premature ovarian failure.
7. IVF Using Sperm Donor
The retrieved donor sperm will be used to fertilize the female egg and the resultant embryo will be implanted in the woman’s uterus in this procedure.
This procedure is recommended when the male partners have severe sperm-related problems, for same-sex couples, or when single women want to conceive.
